I feel that wedding planning & coordinating is a rare skill set. Turning what could be a stressful day into a worry-free beautiful one is part natural and part learned. My ability to plan and coordinate became a passion when I naturally took on the role of successfully planning weddings and events for friends and family...even my own. While planning weddings for others, I noticed that many brides across the KC area lacked planning and coordinating services that were both exemplary and affordable. So I formed Authentically You, where I promise attention to every detail and a special chaos-free day that will be as beautiful and special as you always imagined.
I am the third of 11 children, so to say my growing up environment was chaotic is a massive understatement. How my parents maintained their sanity, I have no idea. I maintained mine by planning, coordinating and organizing. The first wedding I ever planned wasn’t mine, but my best friends. I was never meant to be a bridesmaid, but a planner. A few years later and after assisting with a handful of weddings, I would plan my own. Just a reminder this is 'pre-Pinterest', I was all about collecting wedding magazines, still am. My husband and I wanted a small intimate wedding. We decided to get married on a weekday in December, while all our family was in town for the holidays. It has now been almost 12 years, and we’re still very happily married. Kansas City has always been my home and we now state it with our two beautiful children, our son August, 10, and our daughter Ella, 6. We also have, Rudy, our very hands-on loyal dog we rescued 6 years ago. Curious to learn a little more about me well lets meet for coffee so we can both get to know either!
I have likely watched the show “The Office” on repeat for about 10 years. I would dominate any trivia game!
I desperately wanted to be a professional figure skater when I was a kid. I thought the mighty ducks was the coolest movie ever and I had just what it takes to be Nancy Kerrigan.
I love chickens! I grew up on 15 acres with chickens as our personal pets. When I purchased my first home I couldn’t wait to have my own pet chickens.
I love to be organizeD! Give me a junk drawer, messy closet, pantry and few hours later you’ve got one happy wedding planner.
Titanic was the first PG-13 movie I saw at the theaters. I thought I was so mature skipping school to go shopping with my mom and watch a movie.
I have always believed in the beauty of simplicity and drawing on your own personal styles to create an atmosphere that will ‘wow’ your wedding guests. Authentically You wants you look back in 20 years and still love your wedding design decisions because we stayed true to you.
The dancing, the laughter, the cake, smiles and happy tears - giving you wedding day memories that will last for generations is the Authentically You way.
These are details that I believe truly matter and I am very passionate about it as your wedding planner. I look forward to celebrating with each of you on your wedding day - the celebration of you.
